Digital SLR Lens

  • Pentax k100 : Sturdy, simple, reliable camera but slow auto focus kills it.
  • Canon Rebel XSi / 450D: small, lightweight, poor ergonomic, quite noisy at ISO 1600. The battery grip improve the ergonomic.
  • Canon 40D: Very fast and robust, feels very solid, very good image quality and dynamic range, Auto ISO is not working right.
  • Nikon D90: Fit to my hand like glove, half stop cleaner than Canon 40D, video mode is hard to control but is a nice addition.
  • Nikon D700: Great 51 points AF tracking, Clean image up to ISO 4000, acceptable at ISO 6400. Blazing fast continous shoot with battery grip attached. Ideal for fast action low light shooters.

Compact Camera

  • Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3: Compact camera with big aperture and very wide lens, unfortunately, the zoom is limited to 24-60mm focal length and image is noisy at 400+ ISO
