DSLR video feature might not interesting for still image photographers, but for independent movie maker or multimedia artists, this the video feature is great. Here are some reasons DSLR video is way to go:

1. Cheap

Most prosumers camcorder significantly are more expensive than DSLR cameras with video

2. Interchangeable lenses

DSLR cameras support interchangeable lenses so that videographer can change lenses to get different perspective and result. On the other hand most prosumer camcorder has fixed lens.

3. Cinematic out of focus blur

Prosumers camcorder has small sensor, so it is harder to achieve out of focus blur like in DSLRs or cinema.

4. Superb low light ability

Bigger sensor also means that digital SLR cameras are better in gathering light. So while prosumer camcorder is failing to record place like night club or night scene with available light, digital SLR camera with big aperture lens like 50mm f/1.4 and high ISO level can do it easily. For example, this video about a pub in New York city shot by Mike Kobal.

5. Size and weight

DSLR cameras are relatively smaller than prosumer cameras, and not as intrusive.

But video in dSLR cameras still have some limitation such as inability to record for a long time period without break. Lack of manual exposure control (except Canon 5D mark II), slow auto focus if any, and bad audio. But manufacturers are working hard to fix that.  Video recording feature in DSLR camera is no doubt become a standard feature. Most DSLRs cameras (even entry level ones) have this feature.

Some digital SLR cameras or micro four thirds that have this feature: Canon T1i, Canon 5D mark ii, Nikon D5000, Nikon D90, Nikon D300s, Nikon D700x (both are upcoming), Panasonic GH1, Olympus E-P1.
