Canon Rumors website reports that Canon 1D mark IV (update of 1D mark III, an excellent 10mp camera which can shoot up to 10 fps) “potentially” will be announced in September 2009 and available early next year. This camera will use APS-H size sensor (1.3X crop). It is said that photojournalists (the main folks that use this camera) prefer it to be 1.3X crop sensor rather than full frame like Canon 5D mark ii or Nikon D3.
Canon 1D mark IV will have advantage in shooting sports, news and wildlife than its competitors. Its direct competitor will be Nikon D3. It is a good decision to keep the sensor size, but Canon needs to work on two things: Auto focus performance and noise control in high ISO.
The rumor got CR II rating, means that it is from a good source. [Source]
