Panasonic GF1, super compact micro four third system camera pictures are leaked through xitec forum. This camera is a respond to Olympus E-P1 micro four third system. Although Panasonic and Olympus both are working together to support this new innovative system, they are competitors as well.
The GF1 design look quite similar to Panasonic LX3, but GF1 is a bit thicker and bigger. Compared to Olympus E-P1, it has almost equal in size, but GF1 has built-in flash and AF assist light.

Along with the camera rumor, there are two pictures of the lens as well. There are Leica 20mm f/1.7 (equiv. to 40mm) and Leica 45mm (equiv. to 90mm) Macro lens. Unlike Olympus which is great in optics, Panasonic’s core competency is in electronics but not optics. So Panasonic works with Leica for lenses.

This is a very exciting breakthrough that might shape digital cameras landscape in the future. The key might be the price. Will it be economical enough to challenge traditional digital SLR camera like Canon Rebel series and Nikon D series?
