Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 got a glowing review

Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 gets a glowing “high recommended” review status from dpreview today. It is praised for its small size, fast aperture, great image quality and built quality. Incredibly, It does not have any weaknesses other than price. At $399, it is actually very reasonable price relative to other prime lenses. I think that the price will hold for many months.

Lumix 20mm f/1.7 ASPH is compatible for micro four thirds system camera. So far there are: Panasonic GF1, Panasonic G1, Panasonic GH1 and Olympus PEN E-P1. You can buy it bundled with Panasonic GF1 for MSRP $899.

If you have E-P1 right now, this is a great lens to get, because If you mount this lens on Olympus E-P1, you will get advantage of E-P1 built-in image stabilization. In GF1 you won’t get any image stabilization.

Dpreview also has sample images taken with Lumix GF1 and Olympus E-P1. Check them out.
