Recently shot a wedding on a Canon 5D Mk II, predominantly at ISO 1600 & ISO 3200. Low Signal to Noise ratio was absolutely superb.

We wanted another camera. Went for 7D over 1D mark III. -Unfortunately the signal to noise ratio on the Canon 7D appears only marginally better if any than that of the Canon 30D & 40D, which we still utilize. The larger sensor size of the Canon 1D mark III seems to make all the difference.

Personal opinion: Canon 1D mark III = bulkier & more expensive, but better in the rain, and Far better image quality above ISO 400.
