People who are looking for Pentax DSLR camera might find dilemmatic choice whether to pick Pentax kx or the former flagship Pentax k20d. Both cameras are geared for different audience. K20d is geared for advanced user while Kx is for beginners. But now, they shares almost the same price.
But Pentax k20d which was announced back in early 2008 and discontinued by now, is quite old technology wise, but it is definitely has a great price / value ratio. Pentax k20d has a larger and weatherproof body. It also has a bigger and better viewfinder (pentaprism 95% coverage, 96% magnification compared to pentamirror 96% coverage, 85% magnification).It also has AF confirmation and AF position indicator in the viewfinder that Pentax k-x lacks.

However, the size and bulkiness of k20d might be a turn off in the same time. Pentax kx’s philosophy is less is more, and kx’s interface is less confusing to learn and adapt. K-x also has better continuous shooting speed (4.7 fps vs 3 fps), and most importantly, image quality in high ISO is 1-2 stops better than k20d.
So which one is the best? it will be hard to decide. It will come back to what you need. If you are shooting in the wilderness most of the time or in extreme weather situation, or you have many Pentax big DA* or FA zoom lenses, you might want Pentax k20d.
On the other hand, if you want a camera that lightweight, perhaps for street photography, and ability to take picture in a very low light situation, then Kx is a great choice especially if you have DA Limited pancake lenses.
