Wouter Brandsma, an avid photo enthusiast and Jeff Ascoughs, professional wedding photographer share their interesting thought today.
Mr. Brandsma talks about the myth in camera gears and why people have to change their common preconceptions.
“It seems we are all infected based on common preconceptions. Newer is better, Canon versus Nikon, Foveon versus Bayer, more pixels are better, SLR cameras for nature photography, rangefinders for street photography, compact cameras for family snaps. Who created these boxes and why do feel we need to restrict ourselves to these boxes?”
Mr. Ascough, on the other hand, talks about celebrity photographer phenomenon. In internet age, many photographers want to be famous, less on learning the craft.
I was recently having a Skype discussion with a very good friend of mine who runs wedding photography masterclasses for one of the world’s biggest photography organisations. For one of his masterclasses he invited the delegates to give their reasons for wanting to attend, and asked them what they wanted to learn from the class. Nearly all were newcomers with less than two years of experience, and 70% of them indicated that they wanted to learn how to be a famous wedding photographer and present seminars all over the world :-/
