When Olympus E-P1 is released, it excited many people, especially people that have long experience with the original Olympus PEN. It also excited many photo enthusiasts that longed for small compact camera with large image sensor. But E-P1 came out short. When Panasonic came out with their version a few months ago, Panasonic GF1, which has better specs in many aspects, it drove down the E-P1 momentum.  Olympus was in huge pressure to comes out with an answer.

E-P2 is essentially Olympus answer to GF1 and its loyal fans concerns. Olympus does the listening. Many people desire black casing, better LCD screen, old school love good external viewfinder and so on. But because E-P2 still using the same body design as E-P1, customers won’t get built-in flash.
