Composition: Perspective

Often when we make photograph, we stay at our position and only use the zoom to compose the picture. If we want our image to look more attractive, we need to more actively seek the position and more interesting perspective. Example:

Photo above were taken in eye level position. I use zoom for composition. Please compare with the photo below:

To take a picture above I moved closer to the statue, still using the zoom lens but I zoom out to the widest, and then squat slightly. The result is a more interesting picture and give the impression of Rocky greatness, the fictional boxer from Rocky movie starring Sylvester Stalone.
