Olympus E-P2 on time before Holiday

by Enche Tjin on December 12, 2009

olympus-ep2Olympus E-P2 will be available on Monday 14th December 2009 via Amazon with attractive bundle. The first bundle is Olympus E-P2 with 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens plus electronic viewfinder, and the second is Olympus E-P2 with 17mm f/2.8 plus electronic viewfinder. The price will be the same for each bundle, $1099.

Meanwhile, the original EP-1 price drops to $700 from $799 a few months ago.

What is the different between EP-1 and EP-2? E-P2 has better LCD screen (460k vs 230k), and an electronic viewfinder. It comes with popular black color.

Olympus E-P1 and E-P2 are part of micro four third system. If you like these cameras, you might want to look for Panasonic m43 cameras as well.

So the real question is whether the E-P2 is a worthy upgrade to the E-P1 — in a word, no.

Unless you absolutely must have an electronic viewfinder, the E-P2 is not a major enough upgrade over the E-P1 that you should run out and replace your current E-P1.

If you’re a new buyer however, and if it comes down to a choice between the E-P1 and E-P2, I’d say go for the E-P2 if you can afford it. – Tan Kit Hoong, The Star Online

According to the Amazon website, DPReview, and Olympus own site the EP-2 still has a 230k LCD screen.
