Canon 5D mark II is a very popular tool for professional photographer especially wedding or portrait photographer. It is relatively compact, has full frame sensor and able to record full HD video with full manual control. Canon 5D mark II is bundled with Canon 24-105mm f/4 IS USM. It is a very versatile lens but it is not the best for everything. Therefore, you might like to look for other lenses to complement or to replace this lens. Here are some lenses that might help for wedding, portrait, and general photography.

Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM Price: $1400
This is a very useful wide angle zoom lens to capture the entire wedding scene. It is also great for a massive group portraits. Photojournalists will also love this lens. Because of the big aperture, it is great for low light condition and easier to create a shallow depth of field.
Canon 17-40mm f/4 L USM Price: $700
Budget alternative to Canon 16-35mm f/2.8. It is a stop slower so it will be a bit of a challenge in the low light condition. However good noise handling of 5D mark II or a tripod will help.
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM Price: $1300
This will be likely to be your workhorse lens. It is very versatile for capturing wide landscape scene and also good enough for portraits, especially group portraits. If you can only take one lens with you, this is the lens you want to take.
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS L USM Price: $1700
Canon has several version of the lens, but this is the best because it has biggest aperture and also image stabilization. It is great for indoor and outdoor. However, it is big and quite heavy, so if you like more compact and cheaper one, I recommend 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM. The F4 version is more compact and equally sharp.
Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Price: $599
This lens is great for close up photography, for example, insects, flowers, food, and other small objects. It could also use for portrait and indoor sports. The auto focus is fast, built construction is very good. Canon released the 100mm L lens with IS, but I feel that this lens provide more value for money.
Canon 85mm f/1.8 USM Price: $375
This lens maybe the best bang of the buck. This is my second lens and immediately become my favorite lens. It is best for portrait. Images are dreamy and contrasty. In full frame camera like 5D mark II, the image is even sharper especially in the center of the frame. It is also great for action photography because the auto focus is very fast and silent. I used it occasionally for indoor basketball games. Highly recommended!

FullFrame asks foor good lenses. Personally I think and know from experience that the Canon 24-105mm f/4 IS USM is still a nice zoom for the 5D Mark II. 24 mm gives somes vinget, but it is a very nice zoom all together. More allround and much smaller then the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM. I owned both. And like the 24-105L better. Nice primes gives you great results as well.
For the 5DMk2 I have the 17-40L and 85 1.8 and they are excellent for what I do – street photography. Would love to have the 35 1.4!
