by Enche Tjin on January 4, 2010

Samsung NX10 measures 123 x 87 x 39mm or 4.8” x 3.4” x 1.6”. It not bigger than some micro four thirds cameras such as Panasonic G1 / GH1. Because the size matter in this mirrorless type camera, NX10 will compete directly with G1 and GH1. NX10 will also face competition with traditional DSLRs such as Canon T1i and Nikon D5000.

samsung-nx10-flashAfter waiting for more than a year since its prototype announcement, Samsung NX10 will hit the market soon. NX10 will be the first camera that will be introduced in 2010 and also the first camera with APS-C sensor without SLR-type mirror.

SAMSUNG NX10 SPECIALS

14.6 MP APS-C sized image sensor
This sensor is bigger than four third system sensor which theoretically will deliver better image quality, however, many people think that this sensor is similar to Pentax K7 sensor which is quite noisy in low ISO setting.

3.0” AMOLED – 614k dots
AMOLED screen is better than conventional LCD screen especially under bright sun light.

Built-in Electronic viewfinder – 921k dots
You can also opt to compose picture with built-in electronic viewfinder. This viewfinder does not break any new record because some other cameras has higher resolution (1.4 million dots).

Fast and decisive auto focus
Samsung claims the auto focus is one of the fastest, and CNET preliminary test state that the camera has faster AF then Olympus E-P1/2.

30mm f/2 Pancake lens
There are three lenses that will be launch simultaneously with the camera, but the most interesting is 30mm f/2 which is very slim and small. It is also reasonably fast at f/2. This will be a great combination for street shooters.

K-mount lens adapter
A K-mount lens adapter will be available at launch but this will not allow AF control via the lens. The adapter features an aperture control ring. This is interesting because Pentax users will able to use their lenses in the Samsung body. Pentax has many quality pancake lenses that is best complimented with this compact camera. It’s very interesting product @ beginning of 2010.
Browse to the picture samples, the system is very promising anyway.

The decision is in Samsung’s side if they are serious in digital imaging industry.
