Sony surprises everybody with the launch of A450. So far, Sony already has three beginner cameras and two mid-range cameras. Sony A450 is a mix and match between Sony beginner camera and mid-range camera.

Sony A450 specs

  • sony-a45014 megapixel Exmor CMOS sensor
  • 100-12800 ISO range
  • 5 fps continuous shooting, boostable to 7 fps (Exposure and Focus lock)
  • 2.7″ LCD screen, 230k dots
  • Manual focus check Live view mode
  • Steady shot (built-in image stabilization)
  • up to 1,050 shot / battery charge
  • Auto HDR
  • No Video mode

Price: estimated $750-$800 body only

At a glance, A450 has components of higher-end model,  Sony A550, but with stripped down feature. It has the same sensor as the A550, and 5-7 fps continuous shooting. But it does not have tilt LCD and secondary sensor for quick auto focus in live view mode.

Sony A450 is a nice addition for beginners or experienced photographers who want a simple DSLR camera with great image quality and responsiveness.

People that consider this camera will also consider Sony A500, which has inferior sensor but has tilt-able LCD and fast AF in live view. A450 will also compete with Canon T1i and Nikon D5000.
