I don't think that this lens will auto focus in D5000. So I would recommend <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001PGXEGA/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=web06e-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399349&creativeASIN=B001PGXEGA" rel="nofollow">Sigma 18-250mm</a> instead. I think that the Sigma 28-300mm quality is not good and it also isn’t wide enough for landscape or indoor. I don’t think that this lens will auto focus in D5000. So I would recommend Sigma 18-250mm instead.
