On-Camera Flash Techniques for Digital Wedding and Portrait Photography Review

by Enche Tjin on May 7, 2010

I am usually disappointed with most of Amherst photography books because they are generally full of gorgeous photos but not much about practical photography techniques.

on-camera-flash-techniques-review This book, On-Camera Flash Techniques by Neil van Niekrek is different. It discusses lighting concept and techniques very clearly. It does not have lighting diagram for every photos, but it has behind the scene picture which is even better.

The book discussed about how to use on-camera flash. Most of the time, photographers do not have  luxury of having assistant to carry and hold reflector or off camera lighting gears or they don’t have the time to adjust and set up. Most of photographers use on-camera flash.

Neil shows us how to set up your camera and flash properly, how to direct the light, how and when to use flash modifier and how to deal with specific but highly encounter situations.

You’ll end up more knowledgeable about lighting, flash, camera modes, and most importantly, you can use this knowledge in practice right away. Highly recommended for photojournalists, wedding photographers and on location portrait shooters.
