Fuji Finepix 300EXR vs Fuji F200EXR

by Enche Tjin on July 24, 2010

Fuji Finepix  ( F300EXR ) is successor of highly popular Fuji Finepix 200EXR. The F200EXR has been revolutionary because it introduce EXR mode. The EXR technology tries to overcome limitation of small sensor in compact camera. EXR mode consist of

HR – Resolution priority
SN – High ISO and low noise
DR – D-Range priority

HR – Resolution priority – to get maximum details

SN – High ISO and low noise – to get cleaner image in high ISO setting (ISO 400 and above)

DR – D-Range priority – to lower the contrast of the picture, and capture more details in shadow area.

For more information about these feature, you can visit Fuji F200EXR official website.

So what improvements do we get from Fuji F300EXR?

Well, The 300EXR has three time more powerful zoom (15X vs 5X), higher resolution LCD screen, more responsive AF with hybrid AF system, higher quality video recording and better user interface and ergonomic.

Unfortunately, F300EXR image sensor is smaller than F200EXR. Therefore, I assume that image quality won’t be as good as F200EXR. But until we see the sample images, we can’t really tell anything yet.

Recommendation:

Fuji Finepix 300 EXR has many improvements over 200 EXR such as significantly longer lens, HD video recording and improved user interface and ergonomic. Selling at almost the same price, I recommend Fuji F300EXR over Fuji F200 EXR.
