Sony announces three new lenses, 24mm 85mm and 35mm

Sony announces three new lenses, two are consumer grade lenses, and one is high quality lens optimized for full frame DSLR camera. Sony-Zeiss 24mm f/2 SSM. This lens is designed to rival Canon EF 24mm f/1.4 and Nikon 24mm f/1.4. It is not sure why it is just f/2 instead of f/1.4.

The other lenses, 35mm f/1.8 and 85mm f/2.8 are compact and affordable lenses. These are important lenses because Sony is criticized for years because their lens collection is too expensive. With built-in image stabilization, they will be a great lens in low light situation.

Sony 24mm f/2, Sony 35mm f/1.8 and 85mm f/2.8

Especially for Sony 35mm f/1.8. This lens is optimized only for crop sensor camera and will be a best seller similar to Nikon 35mm f/1.8.

Unfortunately, Sony 85mm maximum aperture is only f/2.8 compare to Nikon and Canon 85mm, which has f/1.8 maximum aperture. However, based on the picture, Sony 85mm f/2.8 is more compact than both Canon & Nikon 85mm lenses.

Sony 35mm f/1.8 = $200

Sony 85mm f/2.8 = $250

Sony-Zeiss 24mm f/2 = $1250
