Canon announces the new, refreshed popular beginner DSLR camera today. Canon T3i (600D) is an update to Canon T2i (550D) and T3 (1100D) is an update to Canon XS or 1000D.
Specification wise, it does not has many differences from their predecessors. Canon T3i still has 18 MP, 9 point AF, 3.7 fps continuous shooting and capable to record full HD video. The main difference is Canon T3i got hi-res 3:2 1 million dots hi-res “SWIVEL” LCD similar to that of Canon 60D.
On the other hand, T3 got video recording capability (but only HD 720p) and 12 MP sensor, 9 AF points, 63 metering system and DIGIC 4 processor. Basically, it is pretty capable camera.
The T3i will be cool for still photographers or videographers that want to try out DSLR full HD video capability. I personally think that the swivel LCD is very helpful during video recording.
The other improvement is the automatic mode which is getting more intelligent because it incorporate scene and picture style on its algorithm. As a result, it may recognize the scene better.
Canon also include in-camera filters such as soft focus, grainy BW, toy camera and miniature effects plus improved guide-help mode.
Canon T3i / 600D will be selling at around $799 , body only, $899 with 18-55mm kit lens. the T3 / 1100D will be selling at $599 with kit lens.
T3 is around $100-150 cheaper than Canon 60D. Spec wise, both cameras are very similar, the differences will be continuous shooting speed and the interface. Canon 60D has top LCD, two dials, shoot faster at 5-6 fps and has more dedicated buttons for faster access.Related Post:
