Canon T4i/650D has just announced and this eventually creates confusion among people who want to buy/upgrade to Canon 60D. Canon T4i/650D shares some similarities with 60D, and about $50 cheaper.
Let check out their similarities:
- 18 MP image resolution
- 9 cross type autofocus points
- Swivel LCD screen
- Same metering system
Then here are some key differences:
Canon 60D has top LCD screen, weather sealed body, two dials and dedicated buttons. It has 1/8000 sec max shutter speed and longer battery life.
On the other hand, Canon 650D has phase detection in live view mode, which will help videographers a lot, about 200g lighter and smaller plus has the newer DIGIC 5 processor which might process better images. Canon T4i also has touchscreen LCD, which is easier to navigate and use.
In conclusion, if your main priority is photography and only record video ocassionaly, Canon 60D is the best. If you do both photography and videography, you might consider Canon T4i.
