Samsung prepares several new lenses for Samsung NX system

by Enche Tjin on June 9, 2012

Samsung currently has nine NX lenses for Samsung NX camera users to pick right now. At the end of this year, Samsung will add five more lenses. The advantage of Samsung NX system and lenses are they are smaller in size than regular DSLR lens despite using the same APS-C sized image sensor. However, they are not smaller than micro four thirds system cameras such as Olympus & Panasonic which has a bit smaller sensor.

These are some of the upcoming new lenses

  • Samsung iFn 12-24mm f/4 OIS ED VCM (wide zoom lens)
  • Samsung iFn 55mm f/1.8 pancake (fix, good for portrait)
  • Samsung iFn 30mm f/2 pancake (version II) (good for street or everyday photography)
  • Samsung iFn 16-50mm f/2.8 OIS SSA (versatile lens, great for indoor)
  • Samsung iFn 70-400mm f/4-5.6 OIS ED VCM (telephoto zoom lens for outdoor, birds, sports)

note:
VCM (Voice Coil Motor) = This technology ensures fast and silent autofocus
iFn (i Function) = allow changing camera function by turning focus ring
pancake = very small / thin lens design
OIS (Optical image stabilization) = prevent camera shake when using slow shutter speed
SSA (Supersonic Actuator) = super fast and silent auto focus

The lens will be available at the end of this year (2012)
