In this post, I’ll like to discuss six Canon DSLR camera in the year of 2012. Hopefully this post will help people who are looking to buy a new Canon DSLR cameras.

Canon T3i, one of the best seller DSLR camera today
Canon T3 / 1100D (2012, 5/6) price: $499 with 18-55mm IS lens
Canon T3 is the most basic DSLR camera. T3 has 12 MP image resolution, 2.7″ LCD screen (230k dots). It does not have spot metering and record 720p video. Comparing to today standard, 1100D features are underwhelming. However, it is the cheapest. So if you are looking the most affordable Canon EOS camera, T3 is the one.
Canon Rebel T2i / 550D (2010, 6/9) price: Discontinued, available used around $550
There are plenty of improvement from Canon T3. It has 18 MP image sensor, 3″ hi res LCD, has spot metering, record 1080p (FULL HD) video. T2 is very suitable for beginner. It has adequate features but not too complex to learn. It is relatively small and lightweight compare to other DSLR camera.
Canon T3i / 600D (2011, 6/8) price: $699 with 18-55mm IS lens
T3i is almost similar to Canon T2i. The difference lies in the LCD screen. T3i has swivel LCD screen. It also has wireless trigger flash system by using built-in flash. If you don’t need the swivel LCD or wireless flash system, T2i is good enough.
Canon T41 / 650D (2012, 7/8) price: $1200 with 18-135mm IS STM, $950 with 18-55mm IS
Canon T4i is the first Canon EOS DSLR camera that has touchscreen. It has smoother and more accurate autofocus, and faster consecutive shooting up to five frame per second. Because it is new, T4i price is still quite expensive and almost equal to Canon 60D. T4i is bundled with the new 18-135mm lens with STM (Stepping motor) to ensure smooth and silent operation while photographing or videographing.
Canon 60D (2010, 8/9) harga: $900
While Canon T3-T4i are designed for beginners, Canon 60D is designed for serious amateurs. 60D has weather sealed body, top LCD screen, two main dials, many dedicated buttons. It has bigger capacity battery, larger viewfinder. Because 60D spec is almost the same as 650D, many photographers are confused. For me, 60D is better and tougher for photography. For those who like to shoot via LCD screen, T4i is more suitable.
Canon 7D (2009, 9/8) harga: $1450
Canon 7D is the tough and fast. It is designed for photojournalists. It has weathersealed magnesium alloy body. It has 19 point system autofocus which is superior compared to all cameras above. 7D is also the fastest in term consecutive shooting. It shoots eight frame per second. Its optical viewfinder provides 100% coverage, big and clear. These advantages make 7D better for photographing sports, documentary, and wildlife photography.
