Panasonic GX7 is a brand new Panasonic micro four thirds (interchangeable lens camera) that designed for serious amateur photographers. It evolves from Panasonic GF1 and GX1 series. Panasonic GX7 is fast, compact and unobstrusive camera ideal for street and everyday photography.
At a glance body design, Panasonic GX7 is similar to Sony NEX 6, but GX7 has more programmable buttons. Unlike Olympus OMD, GX7’s design is more modern and compact. The protuding grip is also a nice touch from Panasonic. Both LCD screen and electronic viewfinder is tiltable.
- 90 degrees tiltable EVF with 2.76 million dots
- Fastest shutter is 1/8000 second
- in body image stabilization
- Focus peaking
- NFC and Wifi
- Tiltable 3″ LCD screen hi res 1.04 million dots
Interestingly, Panasonic GF7 will employ in-body stabilization like Olympus and Sony NEX cameras. This is the first Panasonic m43 camera that has this feature. It makes sense because there are many high quality micro four thirds prime and zoom lenses that doesn’t have image stabilization built-in inside the lens.
Panasonic GF7 will compete fiercely with Olympus EP5 & Olympus OMD EM5 which are discussed here. Beside that, GF7 will also compete with Sony NEX 6. Panasonic GF7 is ideal for experienced/pro photographers who are looking for high quality camera with up to date feature and plenty of programmable buttons. If you already own Olympus PEN 5 or Olympus OMD EM5, you probably doesn’t need this camera. But if you are shooting with DSLR cameras right now and demand more compact system, GF7 is one of the best camera up to date.
Panasonic GX7 will not come inexpensive. The body only will cost about USD $999, with zoom kit lens 14-42mm: $1099
